2. University of Lund:
The Section for Medical Inflammation Research, at the Biomedical Center, Lund University Medical Faculty, Sweden, has extensive experience and a record of excellent contributions in the field of functional genomics for the study of genes and pathways involved in disease pathogenesis. The research activities are focused on experimental animal models for rheumatoid arthritis and related inflammatory diseases such as multiple sclerosis, with the major aim of identifying targets and developing new strategies for the treatment of human disease. The Laboratory has personnel of 25 persons. The section is a part of the Institute for Cell and Molecular Biology. This institute contains 6 other sections with expertise in immunology, tumour immunology, connective tissue research, molecular signalling, molecular biology and cell biology. In total the institute constitutes 200 persons. The institute is well integrated with the benefit of having availability of methodology and expertise in many fields of biology. The institute is a part of the medical faculty of Lund University. Lund University is the largest University in Scandinavia.
